Hot Chocolate Walk for Little City Provides Family Fun While Supporting Individuals with Disabilities

Join in the fun at the Hot Chocolate Walk for Little City while generating awareness and funds for individuals with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities on Nov. 3 in Grant Park

Registration for the third annual Hot Chocolate Walk for Little City on Nov. 3 in Grant Park is well underway. This Walk, which coincides with the popular Hot Chocolate 15/5k Race, benefits Little City Foundation by generating awareness and much-needed funds for children and adults with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Hot Chocolate Walk for Little City is a family-friendly event, offering many activities for children of all ages. The excitement begins prior to the Walk at the Race Expo where walkers can visit the world’s largest mug of hot chocolate, a Chocolate Shop and bouncy house. The fun continues after the Walk at the post-race party which includes a large Kid Zone, magicians, face painting and much more. Strollers are welcome on the walk route and children under the age of 12 are encouraged to participate as junior walkers.

We always look forward to the Hot Chocolate Walk for Little City, it’s truly a perfect opportunity to have fun while participating in a fundraiser that supports individuals with disabilities in your community,” commented Little City Executive Director Shawn E. Jeffers.

This year, the walk course is 2.5 miles long and will take participants along Chicago’s lakefront. Registration for the Hot Chocolate Walk for Little City is still open and available online. All walkers will enjoy the same perks as runners, including a goodie bag with a wicking fleece hoodie and a finishers mug with chocolate fondue and hot chocolate at the post-race party.

“We’re happy to have the opportunity to partner with such a deserving local organization,” said RAM Racing founder Steve Ginsburg. “RAM is all about throwing awesome events that simultaneously help out the community. Plus, the Walk for Little City gives non-runners and parents with strollers a chance to participate in all of the Hot Chocolate fun. They’ll still get to take part in every step of the event– the Expo with the world’s largest mug of hot chocolate, the premium hoodie, and the after-party with fondue and dippables.”

Last November, 3,000 walkers joined the thousands of runners in Grant Park to raise $50,000 for individuals at Little City. Little City engages and supports individuals, families and communities to ensure that children and adults with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities can realize their unique potential to live safely, learn continuously, explore creatively and work productively throughout their lifetimes.
