    Dear Deer

Dear Deer: a book of homophones by Gene Barretta is a cute book of homophones sure to keep your child entertained.  I found this book to be the perfect book to work into my soon-to-be Kindergartner’s lesson plan.  We have been working on sight words, and there has been times when I have to clarify what the word means. Example: For instead of Four.  So, when I read this book to my soon-to-be Kindergartner she loved it, and making a lesson out of it was easy. There are also plenty of sight words in the book that your child will love to point out.  The illustrations in the story are great as well– seeing a whale wail made my children laugh the hardest….ahh don’t you love kid humor.

After reading this book try to think of some other words that sound the same but aren’t the same with your children, have them draw a story for you.  Perhaps they can draw four flowers made of flour for you.
