Sesame Street cares– Food For Thought

Sesame Street has always advocated for children’s growth and safety. Sesame Street is still making a difference everyday with children’s education, but they have added making sure children eat to their list of advocacy.  Sadly in the United States 1 in 6 Americans struggle with hunger.  Hunger is a growing epidemic and Sesame Street wants to educate viewers how to eat in troubling times.

    Per Sesame Street:

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: EATING WELL ON A BUDGET is a bilingual, multimedia program designed to help support families who have children between the ages of 2 and 8 and are coping with uncertain or limited access to affordable and nutritious food.

The program provides videos to educate viewers on the growing increase in hunger and ways to get food on the table; as well as games to educate children on healthy foods.  The viewer will also learn how to eat healthy on a limited budget.

Lilly is a new muppet introduced who is struggling with hunger and gets food from her local food pantry, she helps to inform Elmo of what a food pantry is.  You will also view the struggles of real families facing hunger such as single father John and his three beautiful children.  The stories of these families are quite enlightening and need to be shared—this is what the United States is facing.  Please go check out Food For Thought.
