Verified Mom: Kanesha Morrison

I had the lovely opportunity to interview one of my Verified Mom friends, Kanesha Morrison who shared with me how she runs her sparkly business along side her busy home-life.    When I say busy, I mean, busy!  Kanesha has been married for almost four years and has three little boys.  Little as in, 4, 2 and 10 weeks old!  She is a WAHM in Mississippi and the family is excited to have a new baby in the house!  Prior to owning her own business, Kanesha was an assistant director in the childcare field.  I asked her some important questions about her life and how she manages it all and here’s what she had to say about owning her own business “Blingy Girl Things“, being a independent presenter for Younique, and busy wife and mom of three and here’s what she had to say:

What do you feel has brought you the most success in promoting your business?

Connecting with my clients for sure. Being in their world and see how my product can change their life for the better. I also love how I promote myself over all platforms of social media.

What is your signature product? Moodstruck 3D Fiber lashes for sure.  You get a 300% increase to your lashes and they look completely natural!

What are your 2014 business goals? My goal for 2014 is to empower women over many platforms and be at the top position in my makeup company. I would love to have my husband part time at his job as well.

What do you feel some of the pros/cons are of working for yourself?

Pros: Being with my kids all day, I create my own schedule and the freedom of doing what I want to do. I love being in control of my own success

CONS: I don’t EVER leave the house lol so no adult talk until hubby comes home. Being in the business of pleasing people if someone has a complaint its all on me. Also I suffer from a little case of procrastination.  lol

Do you have any advice for other WAHM’s just starting out?

Make sure it is something you are passionate about. You want do what you love not what you see is making money.  Money will come when you have your heart into it.  Money will leave if your only doing it for the money.

Tell us a little bit about your typical day as a mom.

My typical day as a mom is getting my 4 year old ready and off to school, checking emails and Facebook alerts, prayer time and time with God, breakfast for my 2 year old, marketing a little bit, lunch, nap time is conference call time, start a load of clothes and take the dinner items out, get snack ready for my 4 year and chat with hubby. Market some more and pray that I still have enough energy to stay up all night writing articles. Start dinner, put clothes in the dryer and homework for my 4 year old. Then we switch to bedtime mode which is my FAV part of the day because DADDY is home!! 😀 

How do you juggle work and family?

It’s not easy but I decided I will do 100% everyday so what doesn’t get done doesn’t get done and that’s okay.  I don’t believe in getting down on yourself for going to bed with dishes in the sink or toys on the living room floor. Balance! This is a marathon not a sprint.

Who has been your main parenting influencer and why?

Mine has been my own mother.  She was a single mother of 4 girls and made sure we had everything we needed and wanted.  She set the mark hit on what a real mother does and what she doesn’t do.  I think I learned from her mistakes on what to do better.

What has been your biggest challenge as a mom?

My biggest challenge has been not stopping and smelling the roses. I am a person that sets a goal and achieve it and not stop to enjoy it. I keep going on to the next goal and my kids see that. I want them to enjoy life so I need to start doing it myself.

What are you the most proud of? I am most proud of the fact that I have a strong relationship with God and he is truly ordering my steps to be all I can be.

When you have time for yourself, what do you enjoy doing?

I love to read. Personal development is a must! It should be like a shower recommended daily.

Who or where do you go for support when it’s needed?

I go to my husband, my mother and my grandmother.  They are so helpful and want me to succeed at being a wife, a mother and a business owner.

What is your best parenting advice you could give a new or expecting mom?

The best advice is sleep when that baby is sleep!  You will regret it when you don’t. also take time for yourself even if its only 15 mins.
