Do you find these shoes offensive? Adidas will not introduce The JS Roundhouse Mids this August, after there was much debate if these shoes were racist, symbolizing the sad and harsh reality of slavery. Adidas went on the defensive initially supporting Jeremy Scott the designer of these shoes, but after the public spoke these shoes will not hit the store shelves this August. The company made this statement “Any suggestion that this is linked to slavery is untruthful.”
Scott made this statement to the Associated Press, “My work has always been inspired by cartoons, toys & my childhood.” Scott defends that the toy, My Pet Monster inspired his shoe design.
Hopefully Scott is true to his word and there was no malice behind these sneaks. Honestly when I saw these shoes for the first time—I thought who wants jail shoes? I couldn’t imagine anyone taking you seriously wearing those hideous shoes… I’m glad The JS Roundhouse Mids are off the market! AMEN! What do you think of these shoes? Do you think they are racist? I wouldn’t want my child wearing shackle shoes… you?
They are just freaking shoes! I can’t even get racism out of that…. shoes with bright yellow shackles?! Throw in a free orange jumper and then talk to me about it!
