Part of my big change is how I get ready every day. I would wake up and slap on some foundation, mascara, and lip gloss before I left the house. Today, I’m getting back into the beauty of being me. That means, actually spending time on making myself look the part. When I was younger, I would have the latest fashions and on-trend makeup. Makeup and clothing were a form of self-expression to me and that is how Gianna felt about her hair. I was once all caught up in what people would think or do, but after this life-altering transformation of myself, I decided, it was time to head the store for some new makeup!
I felt bombarded with different makeup choices! Two aisles of makeup, nail polish and tools was enough to send me into a panic attack. Once I calmed myself down, I started to pick up products that I was instinctively drawn to. I tossed handfuls of lipsticks, eye shadows, eye liners, blush and mascaras into my cart. I narrowed down my selection by matching the to the skin tone on my face.
It was such an exhilarating experience that I couldn’t wait to give my makeup picks a try! I can’t lie, I did have help from my daughter in picking them out. It wasn’t that I doubted my abilities to shop for makeup, I just liked the validation that I still got it going on!

The New Me!
It was time to fancy myself up and test out the makeup! I gathered my new product and headed to my daughter’s room where the lighting is on point! To begin with, I resorted to my regular, go-to cover up and foundation. Next, I added the shadow to my eyelids, making sure to follow the instructions on which color went where. I was pleasantly pleased with the way my look was starting to shape up. Then, I lined my lower lash line with the Perfect Point plum liner and finished off the look with a couple coats of mascara. Once I was satisfied with the outcome, I moved on to my cheeks.
Do you know where your cheekbones are? I had to dig around to try and find mine! Once I secured their location, I lightly brushed on the Clean Classic blush. I gave myself a slight dusting of finishing powder just to eliminate some of the natural shine. Moving on to my lips I added the 8HR Pro Gloss first, then I sparingly added the Colorlicious lip shine on top. I looked at myself in the mirror and fell in love. My daughter curled my hair and I felt so pretty. Who was that woman staring back at me?
I loved this photo so much that I have made it my avatar and side-bar blog image. It’s probably one of the best photos I have had taken in a very, very long time. I am back everyone, Phyllis is BACK!
Gorgeous photo, I love it!! And I love the confidence! Now I think I need to get my but to my favorite makeup store for some shopping. ☺️
Thanks so much Tarynn! 🙂 YES, go out and get yourself some brand, spanking new makeup! It does a mind good! 😉
I have started playing more with makeup lately. I’d gotten into the habit of not really wearing any and it’s fun to use that to express creativity. I bought a really crazy purple lipstick and I’m in love with it!
