I’ll just come right out and say it now. GOTRAX™ Hoverboards are FUN! That is, it’s fun according to my kids. I myself have not stepped foot on it simply because I am way too chicken and like my hips where they are. But, that’s just my personal preference! 🙂 I was able to have my kids provide a hoverboard review and let’s just say that it was super funny in a not so funny way at first. When it arrived the kids were super excited and couldn’t wait to get on their new self-balancing scooter. I was a bit more nervous for them but also excited because I know they’ve always wanted one. My son was the first home so he was the lucky one who got to unbox it. We received the Mars Red Hoverfly. GOTRAX is currently offering special holiday pricing so it’s a great time to make a hoverboard purchase! The HOVERFLY Hoverboard is reasonably priced at $179.99 and was named the best hoverboard under $250!
The Hoverfly Hoverboard Experience
Of course, the first thing that comes to my mind is a fire. Simply based off of the news reports of chargers and other issues. However, technology and safety have come a long way since then and quite honestly, you have to use your best judgment. We had to charge the hoverboard before using it and upon doing so, we made sure that we didn’t leave it plugged in overnight or while we were not at home. It is something I would be doing with any other devices that require charging. In my opinion, it’s like a candle. I don’t leave those unattended so I won’t leave things charging for an extended period of time unattended either. A key feature is that it is tested and certified to UL 2272 safety standard guides. Enough said.
Now for the actual experience. As I mentioned my son was the first to get this first-hand hoverboard experience. I know I shouldn’t laugh, but I will because it was freakin hilarious! Since it’s been cold outside I have allowed the hoverboard to hover around the inside of my house. I still don’t know how the kids can balance on these things. It’s mind-boggling. Just take a look at the photos!
Hoverfly Specs:
You’d think that my kids would have utilized the training mode feature but they’d rather learn by trial and error. Now they can zoom around my house without incident and with stellar speed. I like that it has bright LED lights to help guide the way. The Hoverfly has 0-degree turning radius, non-slip foot pads (as you can see my brilliant 16-year-old son doesn’t have shoes on…not smart on his part), and to my satisfaction, protective bumpers. It also will indicate when you need to recharge your hoverboard. Another key feature is the 220-pound weight capacity. That means that as the kids grow into adult size people they can still utilize this self-balancing electric scooter.
My husband attempted to get on the hoverboard but put one foot on it and changed his mind. Who know’s maybe by the time it’s nice out (say May), I might build up enough courage to hop on it myself. I mean, it does look really fun especially when I see my 13-year-old flying around the house. What’s, even more, fun is having them move stuff for me. I’ll ask them to move something from the kitchen to the laundry room and they’ll hop on it and come pick up what they have to move and hover themselves over three rooms to the laundry room. I just don’t know if I have the balance required to stand on the hoverboard. Only time will tell. In the meantime, have fun, visit GOTRAX Hoverboards and grab a really cool gift for your kiddos…or yourself!
