As a busy mom, I am always looking for healthier snacks for my kids. I know if I left them to pick and choose their own snacks, they’d all be eating candy {not that there is anything wrong with a little candy now and then} all day long! There is something that my kids like a lot…tortilla chips. They can eat them with salsa, without salsa, with any kind of dip, without any kind of dip, they just love tortilla chips. So, when the opportunity presented itself to us, we had to give Corazonas tortilla chips a try, and I knew my kids would have fun with it. We love taste testing opportunities because it opens the doors for foods we might not otherwise try if left to wander the grocery store aisles.
Lets start out with the tortilla chips. We were sent the Corazonas Lightly Salted, Squeeze of Lime, and Black Bean & Cheese flavors. We each {4 of us, my 3 kids and myself} tested each one without knowing what they were. All 4 of us loved the Lightly Salted flavor. The tortilla chip itself is very light in texture. It isn’t a heavy crunchy tortilla chip, but yet a nice smooth, light chip. I loved it. It wasn’t overly crunchy because of its thickness, it was just right. The flavor was just a hint of salt, not too salty, just the right amount. They hit the nail on the head with their Lightly Salted flavor in our eyes…or, I should say, mouths. We instantly knew the Squeeze of Lime flavor and lets just say, we are not the Lime kinda family. While it was good and flavorful, just wasn’t it for us. The last flavor was Black Bean and Cheese which to me was a bit on the spicier side, but my kids thought I was crazy. They are used to eating flaming hot products, and that just isn’t my thing. For the kids, they loved them.
I’d have to say that overall these tortilla chips are much better than the standard tortilla chips. They are Gluten Free, all natural, made with 18g of whole grain, 0g trans fat and are infused with plant sterols which are proven in more than 140 clinical studies to help fight heart disease by lowering LDL (bad) cholesterol {which I LOVE because I’ve been looking for a healthier alternative}.
Lets move on to the Corazonas Oatmeal Squares. We did the same process as above with the tortilla chips. We all closed our eyes and took a small sampling. We tried the Peanut Butter, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, Blueberry, Banana Walnut, Cranberry Flax, Chocolate Brownie & Almonds, and Chocolate Chip. The results were: 1 Peanut Butter, 1 White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, 1 Blueberry and 1 Chocolate Brownie & Almonds. We were pretty spread out across the board. Each flavor was liked for various reasons but over all, mom liked them because again, they are low in sodium and all natural. They were all mighty tasty and we would definitely purchase these and make them a regular snack staple in our home.
Great health benefits, great taste, great snacks! It’s a win, win, win!
