If you are bored, do you automatically feel as if you should be doing housework? I certainly don’t. I have never been one to wash the floors if I get stressed, or clean toilets if I am bored. That just isn’t me, however in the stage of my life where I am “purging” the ‘things’ in my life, I want things to be a bit cleaner. Not that I am a dirty person by any means, I just hate dusting and cleaning all the time like my mother. I have a ‘lived’ in home.
The other day I was so bored that I actually spent all day, and by all day, I mean, all day, cleaning! The only thing I was not able to get to was washing the kitchen floor. It was exhausting yet rewarding all at once. I always feel that I am so busy with other things that I just don’t have the time for cleaning like I used to. I am a busy work at home mom with three children. I can’t simply do it all, all the time. I learned a long time ago that once I had children, something had to give. It was the house.
I am learning though, I give myself credit. I was lucky enough to be on the Oprah show way back when I was pregnant with my son and they re-organized my linen closet. In that amount of time I was able to learn how to placed things in an area and that is where their home was. We moved about a year later but the master bathroom linen closet still has the organization like way back when. Now, you would think after so many years I can incorporate it into the rest of the house, right? Well, no, not really. I try very hard to put everything in it’s place and I am getting much better.
I have a mission to get one room organized per month. By the end of the year, half my house will be in tip top shape. With the organization will come the cleaning and housework. Right now, when I have nothing to do, I vow to clean one room at a time.
