    DIY Laundry Room Makeover

So today I was bored and had this crazy idea to clean up and paint my laundry room.  We haven’t done anything to our laundry room since we moved in, and that was 11 years ago.  It was still the new builder white sprayed on paint only after 11 years, it was very and I mean, very dirty.  It isn’t a special place by any means.  It leads to our garage so we pass this area several times a day.  I finally had enough of the ugliness and on the spur of the moment, I decided it needed to be made over.

With that, I headed to the basement to see if we had any left over paint that wasn’t a shockingly bright pink that my oldest used one year during her “I love pink” stages, or the purple that my youngest used for her bedroom when she was 3.  I was hoping for some neutral color that sort of went with the rest our lower level color palate.  Low and behold I found a full gallon of paint that I think was used in my office at some point, though my memory has been failing me lately, so who knows when I used that color.  The paint of choice is called “Kitten Fluff” and though the photos don’t do it justice, it really does look nice now that it’s all painted.

I was actually looking for ways to exercise because I’m taking part in an exercise challenge and I wasn’t in the mood to head to the gym.  So, what’s a girl to do?  Paint of course!  I didn’t use a roller, nope, I’m a rebel.  I used a regular old paint brush!  Actually I couldn’t find my husbands bucket of essential painting supplies {only to find out later they were right in the garage about 10 steps away from me}.  So, I got the paint ready, and started painting.  No taping, no drop cloths, and no rollers… I was going old school, eyeballing and a steady hand!  It only took me a total of 2 hours to clean, re-organize, de-clutter, and paint that room.  I was so proud of myself and despite the fact that the images do not do it justice, I LOVE how it looks now!  It was a super easy thing to do, cost no money, and more importantly, it makes me smile when I enter my home.
