There’s a fantastic opportunity coming your way that not only lets you make a massive difference in someone’s life but also brings a day of wild fun for you and your family.

Roll Up Your Sleeve and Roar for the Cause: The Brookfield Zoo Blood Drive!

Over the summer, the American Red Cross noticed a dip in blood donations. Yes, the very essence that gives life! Hospitals are dispensing blood faster than it’s being donated. But here’s where you can leap into action and be a hero!

Mark your calendar for Thursday, August 31, 2023. The American Red Cross and Brookfield Zoo are coming together for the 8th time for their Annual Blood Drive. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Brookfield Zoo Discovery Center is where you can don the cape of a savior.

But that’s not all! As a huge ‘thank you’ for your generosity, every pre-registered blood donor will receive:

Free zoo admission on the day for one adult and up to two kiddos.
No-more-hunting-for-a-spot! Free parking in the Discovery Center Parking Lot.
A snazzy Red Cross T-shirt to flaunt your good deed.
And… wait for it… a $20 Amazon.com Gift Card **(yes, you read that right!) sent straight to your email (courtesy of their partners at Amazon***). Shopping spree, anyone?
Just remember, make your grand entrance through the South Gate entrance at 3300 Golf Rd. Show your confirmation to the lovely gate attendant and they’ll guide you onwards!

Leah Rippe, VP of marketing and communication for the Chicago Zoological Society, which looks after Brookfield Zoo, shares the joy and gratitude towards the families and Zoo employees who blend their support for this noble mission with a fun day at the zoo.

Your donated blood can be a beacon of hope for accident victims, surgery patients, and even those battling diseases like leukemia, cancer, or sickle cell. With no substitute for donated blood and the need for over 13,000 blood donations daily across the country, every drop counts!

Mark Thomas, the interim CEO of the Red Cross of Illinois, nudges all eligible donors, especially those with types O, A negative, and B negative blood, to consider a Power Red donation. It’s like supercharging your regular donation, making an even bigger impact!
