    Will You Lose Weight During the Holidays?

    Does Losing Weight Now Really Happen?

     

    Holiday Weight Loss

    Funny because I know very little of this topic so this is based on what I have personally done in the past and what I will not be doing again this year.  I will not be beating myself up about what I am and am not eating.  The holidays are stressful enough than to have to put that extra stress on ones self about their weight and/or lack of weight loss.

     

    I have joined Weight Watchers a few times and had done well on it when I follow the plan.  However, I have also discovered that I love going to the meetings and just being with people.  I am not sure if it is the whole “weight loss” thing or just being with people who share the same stories of sadness on some level.  I have had to quit Weight Watchers due to financial situations but I still have all the information I have learned at my fingertips.  Now this is not really a Weight Watchers post as it is more on how to alter how you view the holidays, eating and losing weight.

     

    Most people gain between 5-10 pounds during the holiday season.  That is a fact.  That is a normal holiday process.  A great number of Americans are obese and over weight.  Me being one of those.  It’s sad to say but yes, I have put this weight upon myself, by myself, because of the way I feel about my self.  Yes, outside influences can alter and impact those feelings, but I control my feelings and how I react to them.  Only lately, I haven’t had very much control of anything.  I don’t have control over my finances, I don’t have control over my life, and I certainly don’t have control over my weight.  At least that’s how I feel today.

     

    So.  What am I going to do during the holiday season to ease that?  Well, I am going to do the following…

     

    Keep my head up.  I know that the holidays will come and go and soon it will be a thing of the past, at least for the next 11 months following.  I know that I have to just keep smiling for now.

     

    Parking a little farther.  Yes, when I’ve gone out to the stores, I’ve parked farther so I can get a little extra walking in.  Then I stay where ever I am and walk around more just to get more exercise in because I figure, it’s better than sitting the couch feeling sad.

     

    Wearing my pedometer every day.  I’ve started wearing my pedometer from Weight Watchers so I can see how many steps I’ve taken and how it breaks down into points.   My daily goal is 10,000 steps.  It’s hard.  Really hard.

     

    Drinking more water.  I never really liked water, but I am finding that the more I drink it, the more I like it.  I have this one cup that I got and it’s 16 ounces.  I try to at least make sure I refill it two more times {so I’d be drinking 48 ounces of water during the day}.  Doing it that way doesn’t make it seem so hard.

     

    Only taking one spoonful size serving of anything other than a vegetable.  If on Christmas we have ham, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, stuffing, dinner rolls, and broccoli rice, I will only take one spoonful size of each.  Even the green beans aren’t that good with the cream soup and all those onion things on top.  I will not be going back for seconds!

     

    Desserts, well it is Christmas and I am making the cake {it’s my “job” to bring the cake every year}.  I will have a slice but it will be a small one and only one!  No candy or cookies allowed this year.

     

    This is all a lot harder than you think.  The only thing I have that will keep me going is knowing that it will all soon be over and I can continue to plan for a more extended way to drop the weight.  There are a lot of things I have realized over this past year and in the upcoming posts, you’ll see what I am talking about and I’d love for you to support and cheer me on because I’ve always asked myself “What am I doing wrong?”…and I think I finally, FINALLY, figured it out.

    2. I have been trying really hard to drink more water! However, I have already gained some weight and its not even Xmas yet.. So I’m not doing very well on the healthy eating!
