Homemade Doggy Treats

Our 5 year old golden retriever has battled allergies for the last four years and drug after drug, food after food, nothing has seemed to help ease his symptoms so I had this bright idea to completely change and alter his diet.  I started with homemade dog treats.  I figured, if I could do this and he likes them, making his own dog food shouldn’t be that bad.  During one of our Twitter chats {every other Monday from 9-10am CST -use #t2tchat}, one of our new friend, Michelle from Our Three Peas shared her dog treat recipe.  Not realizing it was going to be so easy and my daughter could help me, I wanted to make it right away…so we did!

Gianna had a lot of fun making these dog treats.  We used what I think is a 1.5″ cookie scoop, but I think it was too big so when she wasn’t looking I broke them in half and they were perfect.  We ended up making about 48 treats with this recipe.  After they cooled, we had Dakota test them out and he LOVED them!  I was so excited that I shared a couple with the neighbors dogs and they too…loved them!  BTW, I am now the BEST neighbor ever!

Have you ever made your own dog treats or dog food?  I’m testing that out next!  I found an awesome recipe so I will share it after we give that a try too!

Thanks Our Three Peas for the awesome recipe!  I have a feeling we will be making these quite frequently!
