I fell in love with this book before I even read it. I mean, look, isn’t that most adorable little mouse you’ve ever seen? Count to 10 With a Mouse by Margaret Wise Brown makes counting fun. This little mouse tries to count how many fingers and toes he has when he spots a book…with a hole. Running in and out of the books holes, he is able to start counting what he sees. This is the first year Count to 10 With a Mouse is available in print and I am so glad that it is. Count to 10 With a Mouse will make reading to and with your child fun. Along with the unique storytelling, this book is beautifully illustrated by Kirsten Richards.
Another one of Margaret Wise Brown’s books that is available now is Goodnight Little One. This story is a perfect bedtime story to read to your little ones. As the story is told, it’s night-time so all little ones must close their eyes, even the farm animals. The illustrations by Rebecca Elliot, make you feel as if you are out in the night sky yourself. I absolutely adored both of these books and can see them making a great baby shower gift, or new mom gift…or just a gift to give to your own child so you can make reading at bedtime a nightly ritual.
Margaret Wise Brown was the author of the famous books, Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny. The books’ release this year marks the 50th anniversary of Brown’s passing. Three more Margaret Wise Brown titles, Around the World We Go, The Sleepy Bears and Sleep Little Child will be released in August 2012. I am sure you will love them both just as I did.
