I received this recipe from a co-worker and since I’ve tried it, it’s been the only way I will make a roast. It is really so very simple you’ll be shocked at its bold flavor and tastiness once you’ve tried it. My husband has even told me, and I quote, “this is the best roast I think you’ve ever made”, and when you hear that from your meat and potatoes loving husband, you know you’ve done something right! Even better is when your kids will eat it too without a single complaint! It’s so good…really, you must try it and tell me how you like it.
- 1-2 lb rump roast
- 1 can of french onion soup
- 1 can of cream of onion soup
- Depending on how you normally prepare you roast {dredge it in flour & brown/or not - I coat my roast in flour, pepper and a sprinkling of seasoned salt and brown on all sides, but you can just toss the roast in the crock pot and be done with it....your choice}.
- Place roast in crock pot. In a small bowl, whisk together the can of french onion soup and cream of onion soup and pour over roast. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high 4-5.
- *OPTIONAL* about 15 minute prior to serving, I added a can of peas & carrots to my roast mixture until heated through. I also served this dish with onion roasted potatoes {recipe on the back of the dry soup mix}.
- The flavors this roast has will send you to the moon and back! It's that good!
Now that kids are back in school and we are busy with sports this recipe is definitely something we’ll be adding to our menu plan!
