A few months ago, I was the very lucky winner of a fantastic giveaway from the extremely talented Lauren McKinsey. I was lucky to win some awesome lunch box notes for school. I was thrilled because I had planned on sending some “love” with Braden to school in his lunch but now, with these I was certain!
When school started a mere 5 weeks ago, I packed a little love note in Braden’s lunch box each day. I was afraid he would not like it and be embarrassed that his mom was sending little notes to him in his lunch. But, I wanted him to know that no matter what, I am here for him and love him so much.
On the first day of school, he came home with the note and it was all crumpled and wrinkled. I asked him what happened, did he not like his note? He told me that he loved it so much he carried it around with him the rest of the day. 🙂 I knew that it was just the first day and he probably just missed me. But, I continued to pack him a different note each day. After about 3 weeks, I decided that maybe I stop the notes. I wasn’t sure how well it was going over with him since he never said anything since the first day. Plus, now he was making new friends I didn’t want to be “that mom”. So, for one day I did not put the note in his lunch box. When I picked him up from school he was very disappointed and was upset with me that he did not have a, “card” as he calls it, in his lunch at school. I felt terrible. I would never forget to put one in his lunch again.
As I was getting him ready for bed last night and setting out his clothes for the morning, he says to me, please don’t forget my card tomorrow in my lunch. 🙂 I had no idea how important this was to him. But, I am so glad that I was able to win these lunch box notes. They make his day brighter and I know now that he looks forwards to lunch each and every day. Even when I can’t be there with him, he knows that I am still thinking of him. That makes me extremely happy.
