Trying to cut down on chicken nuggets?

Many parents have that one kid who will only eat mac and cheese or chicken nuggets… what is the chicken nugget?  After watching an episode of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution perhaps you will wonder if there is an alternative.  Yes of course there are other options. Chicken tenders for starters and when made at home you can control how to cook them.. baked versus fried.  However there are busy days when parents need something quick– we get that. In comes Dr. Praeger’s kids.  Dr. Praeger a cardiac surgeon and his medical partner Dr. Eric Somberg have come up with healthy options for adults to enjoy and have extended their healthy options to appeal to children.  My children and I tried and guess what….

We liked it.  Yum.  The kids were so surprised I cooked “chicken nuggets” and they were in fun

shapes too (insert evil villainous laugh).  They ate up the broccoli bites, my boy ate his with his favorite organic honey mustard.  One of the girls finally figured she was not eating chicken or Boca nuggets. Now that my eldest daughter is reading it was kind of a giveaway– I couldn’t get away with it completely.  However, guess what– I felt so much better about making an easy healthier dinner.  I sometimes buy vegetarian nuggets, but they have so much fillers, and with these Broccoli Littles I was able to read everything on the label.

Ingredients: Broccoli, Potatoes, Onions, Egg Whites, Potato Flakes, Expeller Pressed Canola Oil, Arrowroot, Salt, Garlic

Doesn’t that make you feel much better too?

  1. Great article. I believe that parents should be concerned about what they give their children to eat. Healthy diet consisting of the ingredients mentioned above is the way to go. Thanks for sharing.
