2 must-have products for beating the summer heat!

When it’s so hot outside and the kids don’t want to go out and play, what’s a mom to do?  The summer is half over and being outside has become less than thrilling.  Kids have now resorted to sitting on the couch…playing video games…eeks!!

I bet that looks familiar, doesn’t it? Well today we were in luck!  We received a couple of really cool {and when I say cool, I mean that figuratively and literally}, products to test out.  I don’t even know where to begin!  The kids were so excited that they rushed to open up the two items from

I don’t know about your children, but mine have found a sudden interest in table tennis and have converted my kitchen table into a table tennis competitive zone.  When they spotted the first box, they knew they had to try it immediately!  And, they did.  They ran to get their bathing suits on and off they went.  With paddles in hand, they each took an end and went right into the pool.  If you haven’t guessed it by now, it was the Swimline Floating Pool Pong Game {$48}!  OMG…was it funny to watch them play this game while it floated all around the pool.  It kept them entertained for a long time, and then the paddles became instant splashing toys.  Each one would scoop some water onto their paddle and fling it at each other…hey, I like a multi-purpose toy!  I mean, look at the concentration on my sons face!  Priceless!

The Swimline Floating Pool Pong Game is 54″ x 27″ that is made of soft foam so it can float and it can also be placed on a small table for additional usage when the pool is closed up for the winter months.  It comes with oversize floating paddles and 3 regulation balls.  All the pieces have a spot within the foam portion for easy storage when not in use.   It is not a regulation table so if you are used to that size, it will take a few tries to get the hang of it, but the kids have been having fun and they’ve been calling my name to play too!  Perhaps if we got two games we could connect them somehow and play a doubles game!

But…while they were out playing pool pong, mom (that would be me) was inside making a nice drink to sip while watching the kids in the pool.  Guess what I made!  Using the Nostalgia Electrics Margarita and Slush Maker {$61}, I made myself {and the kids} a delicious low-fat strawberry smoothie/slushie!  Ok, so I admit it, I was just as excited to try this out as the kids were to try out the pool pong game!  My slushie was so fun and easy to make!  I can’t wait to make more fun summer drinks (with and without alcohol).

The Nostalgia Electrics Margarita and Slush Maker was ahhhmaazing to work with!  I was a bit fearful that I would have to take things a part to clean them, forget how to put everything back into place, then get afraid that all the liquid would spill out the sides {believe me, it’s happened to me before, so I speak from experience}, but much to my surprise, this product is super easy to work and clean!  Load all your mixes into it (not to exceed the fill line), plug in and flip a switch.  That’s it.  Let it run until your desired drink consistency and you have created your very own margarita and/or slushie!  {Mine was more of a smoothie than a slushie but it worked great for my family.}  For cleaning up…it was just as easy!  With one simple twist, the top part comes off and all you need to do is remove the lid and wash both out with hot soapy water and let dry.  Done.   Drink made quickly…clean up…even quicker!

If you are starting to feel the end of the summer stress…I would highly recommend trying both of these products out for yourself!  You and your kids will be happy…and when moms happy…everyone’s happy!
