It is hard to believe it has been another a year of Netflix streaming. My family has grown a lot in many ways especially in the shows we all watch. It’s fun to take a step back and reflect on what we were into at various stages of our lives. It’s also important to share that this month I decided to finally cut the cord and give up my DirecTv service! That’s right, we are now a 100% streaming family! I have been set free and it feels SO good!
A Year of Netflix Streaming…
What exactly did our year of Netflix streaming look like? Our number one show to stream was Stranger Things 2. This was a fun series to watch because all 5 of us set up a day and time to watch it. We sat there and watched the entire series in one day! It was crazy fun. We started out watching it early in the morning and it went into the wee hours of the night. No lights were on at all during the day or night and we only paused for a couple bathroom breaks!
Another one of my favorite yet controversial shows was 13 Reasons Why. I shared some thoughts on this series and tho it was a touchy subject, teen suicide needs to be addressed. We are losing far too many of our young people by words that are spoken or worse actions made by their own peers. It was a brutal series to watch and some said it glorified suicide. I thought quite differently. However, each parent is allowed their views and I respect that.
Sneaking In Me Time
We all have those shows that we watch when no one else is around. For me, it’s definitely Orange is the New Black! Nothing is better than hiding away in a closet, bathroom, or laying down in the backseat of your car covered with a blanket *not speaking from any experience whatsoever*! I wonder if Amazon sells a popcorn popper that you plug into your car? Sometimes it’s nice to just hide out where no one can find you for a little mental health check in. It’s OK to hide! No one will judge you! You need time to unwind, relax, mentally prepare for what’s to come once you walk into that house!
Holiday Streaming
The kids are all home now for the holidays and are out of school for a couple weeks. That means there will be a lot of streaming going on! Some of our favorite Holiday shows or movies are The Legend of Frosty the Snowman (it’s a youth thing on my part), Bad Santa (who doesn’t like a good laugh?), Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas (one of my kids’ favorites), and The Santa Clause. We are going to have so much fun on family movie night because it’s a whole night of holiday movies!
With the holiday streaming comes the New Year’s Eve Countdowns. There are 9 different countdowns to choose from. Just go to Netflix.com/Kids homepage for direct access to all 9 countdown videos.
As I mentioned, it’s been a whirlwind of family growth this year. Some shows hit us more than others. Which series, show or movie do you think was your favorite for 2017?
