Family Fun Breakfast Dinner
My family LOVES breakfast for dinner and when I say LOVES, I mean, they could eat breakfast for dinner every night of the week! #Truth! I personally don’t mind it either because it is usually something all of us will eat. By having a family fun breakfast dinner, there is no fussing or complaining about eating something they hate (like broccoli, cauliflower or green beans). It is usually a very successful dinner option and one I often refer to when ever I am stuck for ideas or lack time to make a bigger meal.
I recently posted about my chocolate covered strawberry pancakes that I made for dinner one night and today I am going to talk about the Krusteaz light & crispy Belgian waffles we made. Again, the great folks at Krusteaz sent over some products in order for me to facilitate this post but again, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love doing fun things with the kids and it’s the little moments that really give my heart joy. I was getting ready and preparing the waffles according to the directions on the box while Gianna decided she wanted to make some pancakes. She didn’t want just round boring pancakes, she wanted to make shapes. She got out the {affiliate link} griddle, whipped up a small serving of pancake mix, and poured it into the squeeze bottle. She is just giggling and having fun creating her edible works of art. The expressions on her face were priceless!
She’s such a nut! I have no idea what she is holding. I want to say it was a face but honestly, I think she was the only one that knew what that was. As for what’s on the griddle, that is suppose to be a dinosaur and well, again, art is open for interpretation, right?
Just seeing that cute lil face makes me smile. It was after the dinosaur was made that she really decided to get fancy. She attempted to make the Eiffel Tower. This creation is loosely based off my Eiffel tower salt shaker.
I can’t deny or confirm it’s ended up looking like the Eiffel Tower. It was edible though so that’s all that really mattered to me. And, according to Gianna, it tasted SO GOOD!!!
Now, let’s get back to my light & crispy waffles, shall we? I discovered that my George Forman waffle plates make my waffles super crispy which is what we love, so I started using that instead of my regular Belgian waffle maker. They are thinner than a traditional waffle Belgian waffle iron but if you like crispy waffles, I’d strongly suggest giving the Forman a try. My oldest has issues with eating things that aren’t the color they’re supposed to be so I made regular waffles for her but for my youngest and my middle, I made them colored. They love when I do simply, yet fun things with their food. I once made mashed potato mountains with trees (broccoli) on top which they thought was fantastic! It’s the simple things that make them happy.
I made them red, blue, purple (although my son said it was brown…color blind I tell ya, that’s what I’m going with) and then the regular ones. I think they made our dinner bright, beautiful, light and crispy! 🙂 My son plated his all by himself and proudly snapped this photo….
