I have this space in our home that is between our living room and dining room that was just screaming for something to be placed there. I already had painting that I loved but nothing below it. I needed a table, a bar, something. After searching stores, yard sales, neighbors garages, everywhere, I could not find anything I wanted or liked or was in our price range. So, after seeing some ideas on Pinterest, I thought “Why don’t we just make one?” After the initial laughter from my husband faded, I convinced him this was the best way.
I found this post on Pinterest about a table they made for only $20.00. Perfect!!!
We headed right to Lowe’s to price the wood and get started. After seeing prices for the wood, we left there and headed to Home Depot. Not any cheaper. $20 to create a table??? Not likely. More around the $50 to $60 range.
We decided to go ahead and try it and see how it works. But, for $50, we knew it had to come out perfect. We followed the instructions on the site about sizes, brackets, and more.
We purchased:
- 2 (two) 1×12 boards
- 2 (two) 1×6 planks (Said to get cedar, but those were double price)
- 2 (two) wood brackets
- Wood Stain
Total price was $48.00. But we had the nails, extra brackets, screws, hammer, saws, etc.
We followed the directions and cut one board in half to create the legs, attached with brackets for the top, stained all the pieces. Cut the side pieces and assembled all together. After a bit of adjusting and re cutting the wood and 3 days later, we finally finished. We are by no means carpenters and handy people. But, I think we did a pretty good job for our first table to ever create.
I am very happy with how it turned out. I think I may have to make another one for our bedroom at the bottom of our bed.
