Tuesday night at 7:00 pm (cst) on September 24 was the premiere of the new CBS show, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. In case you are not aware of this show, it is a take off of the hit movie, The Avengers, but featuring the agents in the organization and what they do to protect the world. They touched on it briefly in the movies, with agent Coulson being featured in all the Iron Man movies, Thor, Captain America, and of course The Avengers. Shield starts off right where the movies left off and doesn’t leave one detail out.
To celebrate the premiere of this much anticipated show, local Dallas theater, The Angelika Film Center, hosted an event dedicated to the show’s debut and its loyal fans. The Angelika partnered with a local comic book store, Keith’s Comics to help with the event. They provided goodie bags for each fan filled with comic books, collector cards, and giveaway tickets for prizes. Keith’s Comics also managed to have a few Superheroes attend the premiere as well.
The superheroes were available for a meet and greet about an hour before show. They posed for pictures, discussed missions, and battled it out. Well, not really battled it out, but did make a little boys day when they pretended to fight. My boys were so excited to meet their favorite heroes, Iron Man and Captain America. They also posed for pictures with Black Widow and Hawkeye. After the meet and greet and prize giveaway, the live showing of the tv show played on the big screen. It was a full house in the theater. A great turn out for all the locals. We did not stay for the entire show, hard to get 2 little guys to stay focused on a show when Iron Man is sitting next them. 🙂 So, to make sure we didn’t disrupt anyone, we headed out right as the show started. But, of course we had it recording at home.
The TV show was great and really looking forward to the season. The TV show has the same producers and writers as in the movies, so you know it would be great! A must see!
It was non stop hero talk the entire way home and Braden couldn’t wait to get to school this morning to tell all his friends that he met the “real” Iron man last night.
