Last week Braden’s teacher sent a note home saying the Kindergarten class will be performing in a show and he needed to dress up as an animal of his choice, from 5 animals. He chose to be a dog. After the anxiety and shock of the thought, “I have to make a costume. I have to make a costume in under a week.”, wore off. Oh and did I mention, I can’t sew. I got searching Pinterest, FB, internet search engines, I couldn’t find a thing. Â I was getting frantic and of course it was racing through my mind for days.
Finally, while searching through the boys dress up/costume box, I came across an old dog foam visor/hat. It suddenly clicked! The hat was perfect! I knew exactly what I was going to do. The hat originally came from the grocery store in the dollar bin, however I have seen them at Dollar Tree and Michaels. I grabbed a white tshirt from hobby lobby that was 40% off at $1.50. Found some black cargo shorts at Target for $7.00. While at hobby lobby I found a large over sized looking pipe cleaner for $3.00. Safety pins and red ribbon completed the supplies.
I cut out vinyl spots from tshirt vinyl and ironed onto the white shirt. Can cut out black felt circles for same look. Â Adjusted and twisted the pipe cleaner to form a tail and pinned it to the shorts with the safety pins. Added our real dog’s vaccine tags to the red ribbon for a collar. Voila!!! A no sew do it yourself dalmatian costume!!!
