It isn’t like Shelton High School senior, James Tate and his two friends spray painted school property, or hid in the girls locker room waiting to pop out of a locker to ask a girl to go to prom with him. What did James Tate do? He taped 12″ tall cardboard letters outside the school’s entrance, so everyone could see them going into the school. It read, “Sonali Rodrigues, Will you go to the prom with me? HMU -Tate.” He simply thought it was a romantic thing to do. Tate and his two friends were given an one day in school suspension and has been barred from his Senior Prom. Tate was told he was “trespassing and it was a safety risk.” Of course, his date said yes, but now she is date-less for three hours during the school prom. They will take pictures together before the Prom and then the couple will meet up post-prom at the after parties.
