Time To Organize
Today I was inspired to do a complete overhaul on my office. If you have seen any of my posts or tweets or messages on Facebook, you know, my office has always been a huge trouble spot for me. It has become a “drop-off” area for just about everything from school work to products for celebrity giftings to products to review, and to things my kids have outgrown that I need to add to Ebay. It is usually a huge mess and nine times out of ten you won’t be able to get to my desk without tripping over something or stubbing your toe on a box. Then when you actually make it to my desk you won’t find anything and you’ll most likely have a hard time finding a pen, or the top of the desk. YES, it is that bad. So in a final attempt to making it more functional for me, more organized for me, I have decided to take it one day at a time and go section by section and reorganize or de-clutter it so it does not become too overwhelming for me.
Today I decided to start with my filing cabinet. It is a 4-drawer unit {affiliate link to the one I have} that houses my husbands side-business paperwork, my Baby Swags paperwork, the kids school work, bills and receipts and instruction manuals and such that we have received with various purchased products.
Sounds easy enough, right? WRONG. It has taken me about 3 hours just to clean it up! BUT, I am so happy with how it turned out. It didn’t require major changes, but I did add a few new hanging files and cleaned out some of the others to make room. So now when I open the file cabinet to file something {yes, I plan on filing the papers right away instead of letting them pile up a mile high}, I will be able to easily find the folder to which it needs to go in.
I did this to all four drawers and they all are so clean and tidy that it makes me smile just to open it. I even took all the magnets off the front of it and now it looks a bit more professional! I did take before photos of what the entire office looks like but I will share those when I am completely 110% done with my “Operation Office Organization” mission! Tomorrow though is Day 2 and I will be under my desk! Yikes!
What area in your office is your trouble spot? Maybe I’ll tackle that one next! 🙂
[…] time. Some of the areas you may not see a huge difference, but I can tell, believe me! Last time I organized my filing cabinet. It took awhile to do that and that is what I have learned; this process it going to take a lot of […]
